Position Overview:
The Solutions Product Manager for liveBooks will be responsible for driving requirements development and specification for the successful integration of liveBooks products with third-party solutions as well as across liveBooks product lines. This will include the development of market requirements documents which gather the opinions of a diverse group of people including, sales, marketing, and our customers as to the specific needs required for future versions of liveBooks products. Additionally, the product manager will have responsibility for the completion of product specs to be delivered to engineering and will oversea interactions with the engineering team in creation of technical specifications, user experience and user interface design. This process will take place as a part of an overall PLC process in which the product manager owns ultimate responsibility for whether the product maps to agreed upon objectives including meeting requirements set out in MRD as well as quality and timeliness of the release. The solutions product manager will additionally be responsible for leading integration implementation including the development of a complete implementation plan covering all aspects of the project spanning, sales, marketing, operations, billing and support along with the management of a published timeline for completion. The solutions product manager will be responsible for soliciting input on all mentioned documents and gaining buy-in from management on the priorities and direction of the product. The product manager will work closely with marketing on the development of all positioning and messaging for products as well as recommended go-to-market strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Create MRDs that clearly articulate the opportunity and requirements for successful integration of third-party solutions or cross-product integration as related to company roadmap
- Write detailed product specification documents to ensure proper direction for engineering and implementation teams
- Create detailed implementation plans covering cross-functional requirements for successful launch of solutions
- Collaborate with engineering on the appropriate implementation of the product features while overseeing
- Manage overall timeline and project plan to ensure on-time delivery of solution based on company roadmap and commitments
- Collaborate with marketing on the development of positioning, messaging and marketing of the product
- Work with sales to develop the appropriate pricing and business model for the delivery of the product
- Develop and deliver training materials for sales and support regarding all new solutions releases and updates
Requirements:
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- Proven ability to independently drive a complex project involving a mixture of local and remote teams
- Experience working with diverse personalities and across various job functions including Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Business Development
- Track record of motivating teams of people with whom there is no formal reporting relationship
- 2-3 years of experience working with Web 2.0, ASP, Portal or marketplace type online solutions
- 2-3 years of experience as the product lead for a web based product optimally with a consumer focused end deliverable
- Clear communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess relevance of various data sources and synthesize content into useful recommendations
- 5+ years of experience in high tech product management
- First hand experience working in a creative market such as photography, animation, architecture, design, etc a plus
- Quick learner with a proven track record as a self-starter with strong leadership and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically
- BA/BS degree MBA preferred
