Our office is located within steps of the water, great restaurants, a gym, a dog park, bike paths and a banana-belt location that is full of artists and small businesses, including some of our own customers.

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer / Architect to work out of our Sausalito office. The Development team is dispersed between our US headquarters in Sausalito and our branch office in Romania. This position will be responsible for anchoring the development team in the US, helping grow the team and mentoring less experienced team members. The position will be responsible for designing and implementing a few challenging new projects working with developers in the US and Romania, as well as program management, QA, UI design, systems operations and customer support. Additionally, the Software Engineer / Architect needs to contribute to ongoing development management by helping improve processes and methodologies where needed and able. Our current technology base revolves around the typical LAMP stack and this position is expected to help us grow and extend that base while including other technologies where and if appropriate. This position requires some travel to Romania and possibly other locations in the US and Europe.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience
• 7 years experience developing highly available and scalable web applications
• Knowledgeable and experienced with OOP
• Experience with design and admin of RDBMSs and/or NoSQL solutions
• Experience developing for the cloud
• Meticulous attention to detail
• An appreciation for excellent design (UI, graphic, visual)
• Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and visual
• Fluent in English. Fluent Romanian language skills are a strong bonus
• Strong presentation and teaching skills are a strong bonus
• Posses a positive attitude and finds smart ways to get things done
• LAMP (or similar) administration skills are a plus

Overview of the Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary development team, the Web Developer supports front-end development and launch of new on-line products and services. Based on project requirements, this position is responsible to design, code, test and debug new software systems or apply modifications to existing software.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into a software solution
• Develop new and existing web applications based upon solid technical designs
• Define and document technical designs
• Define and monitor testing strategies as a part of the implementation process
• Participate in functional and technical design reviews
• Troubleshoot and correct reported issues
• Analyze and optimize application performance
• Report status on assignments

Candidate Qualifications / Experience:

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field of study preferred, two or more years experience with JavaScript / CSS / HTML required.
• Experience with JQuery, SASS, or LESS a plus.
• Expert knowledge of Object Oriented programming principles.
• Experience working with source code management tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to collaborate with local and remote team members and stakeholders
